Unholy Rollers 146, Vaudeville Vixens 96

Though the scoreboard showed a 50 point difference at the end of the bout, the Mad Rollin’ Dolls Vaudeville Vixens held a tight game against the queens of the underworld. Both teams came into the March 31 bout winless, and with the semi-finals just two weeks away, the winner would clinch the third seed.

The Vixens began the bout with an early lead and mainly rotated through a jammer line up of Sugalumps, Major Kusaknocky and Darling Nikki. In the seventh jam, Feminine Hyjinx jammed against Wildberry Punch. Punch was able to get through the pack first but did not get lead jammer. She picked up five points before Hyjinx was able to get lead and call off the jam.

The Unholies took the lead when Splatter Alice, who spent most of last season as a blocker but has added jamming to her repertoire this season, took four grand slams during a power jam, bringing the score to 39-31. Tango de Muerte next found some resistance from the Vixens’ blockers but grabbed eight points for her team. The Vixens answered back with two grand slams plus another three points from Major Kusaknocky.

At the start of the second half, the Vixens lost their two point lead when the Unholies picked up 10 points within the first four jams to the Vixens’ four points. The Unholies would remain ahead for the remainder of the bout.

During the second half of the bout, the Unholies relied on the prowess of Team USA alternate Wildberry Punch, who took the jammer line every other jam. Though she only had one power jam opportunity, she racked up an average of four points each jam which kept the Unholies ahead of the Vixens. This was the first bout Punch had skated at the home track this season.

The Vixens continued to keep up their defense during the second period. Unholy jammer Splatter Alice ran into walls of pink twice. She scored four points the first time, but the Vixens pack gave her enough trouble to keep the jammer from grabbing any points the next round.

In the final jam of the bout, Splatter Alice faced Mustang who jammed twice in the first half. As the Vixen hit trouble from the Unholies defense, she passed the star to Little Suzy Homewrecker who was unable to get through the pack while Splatter Alice found another nine points for her team. The final score of the bout was 146-96 in the Unholies' favor.

During the bout, Major Kusaknocky scored her 500th point.  Kill Billie and Tango de Muerte each skated in their 300th jam in any position.
